Getting things done, not just collecting complaints
I'm Andy, an MSc Advanced Computing student. During my undergraduate degree I was a Course Representative for two years, so I know how to turn what students say into changes the department actually makes.
As a Course Rep, I helped
- Extend building opening hours
- Make lecture recordings more accessible, even for live sessions
- Get air conditioning installed in more places
- Advance a teaching assistant scheme so more students get the opportunity
Already helping at Imperial
- Helping run our MSc WhatsApp community
- Built the unofficial module selection helper
What I'll fight for
-
A manageable workload
Our MSc is intense. I'll gather feedback on how long coursework actually takes and push for workloads that match the credits, with breathing room before exams.
-
Career support that starts now
Graduate recruitment opens in autumn, long before we finish. I'll push for earlier careers sessions, industry and alumni talks, and clear information on project and supervisor allocation.
-
Fair, timely feedback
Clear marking criteria, and feedback that arrives in time to help with the next assessment.
-
Transparency
After every Staff-Student Committee meeting, I'll post a "You said, we did" update: what was raised, what changed, and what's still in progress.
-
Easy to reach
An anonymous feedback form, regular check-ins, and replies within 48 hours, whether your concern is academic or about wellbeing.
